Transport Options:

By Air: Take a 1 hour flight from Nairobi to Moi International Airport

By SGR:  A 6 hour Standard Gauge Railway(SGR) train ride from Nairobi to Mombasa terminus, followed by a 45 minute taxi ride to your hotel in North Coast.

By Road: A 9 hour drive from Nairobi via the Mombasa road.

 SUMMARY  ITINERARY

Day 1; Arrival at Moi International Airport or Mombasa SGR Station

Upon arrival in Mombasa at the SGR station, head to your hotel in North Coast, check in and relax and enjoy some welcome drinks by the beach. Enjoy a seafood-rich lunch at your hotel depending on the time of arrival. In the afternoon, at about 1400hrs, set out to visit Haller Park. A former quarry turned into a nature park. Walk through the lush grounds and interact with animals like giraffes, hippos, tortoises and various bird species. At 1600hrs, return back to the hotel and take a leisurely walk along the beach. Enjoy some beach activities like swimming, beach volley ball, or simply lounging by the shore. At 1800hrs, head to Tamarind, a seafront restaurant for a fine dining experience. Later on, after dinner, wind up at the hotel with some drinks at the bar or enjoy the cool breeze from the ocean. Head back for overnight at the hotel.

Day 2; Historical and Cultural Exploration of North Coast

0700hrs, start your day with continental or local breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, at 0900hrs, head out to Fort Jesus, a 16th-century Portuguese fort rich with history. Explore its museum and enjoy panoramic views of the coastline. Afterwards, take a walk through Old Town with its narrow streets, Swahili architecture, and vibrant markets. At 1230hrs, enjoy a Swahili-style lunch at Forodhani Restaurant, located near Fort Jesus. After lunch, at about 1400hrs, proceed to explore Mombasa City. Visit Mombasa’s Elephant Tusks, a monument symbolizing the getaway to the city. Afterward, stop by Bombolulu Workshops, a local artisan cooperative that empowers people with disabilities to produce handicrafts. At 1600hrs, return back to your hotel and spend a relaxing afternoon by the beach or pool. At 1830hrs, head out to Cafesserie, a popular spot serving local and international dishes at City Mall. At 2030hrs, return for overnight at the hotel.

Day 3; Adventure Day in North Coast

0700hrs, have breakfast at the hotel and head out for a day trip to Watamu, about 2 hours from Mombasa. Visit Watamu Marine National Park and enjoy snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear waters among coral reefs, colorful fish and sea turtles. At 1230hrs, after your marine activities, have lunch at Ocean Sports Resort in Watamu, where you can dine by the beach and savor fresh seafood. In the afternoon, after  lunch, set out to explore the mysterious Gede Ruins, an ancient Swahili town hidden in the forest. Head back to Mombasa, at 1600hrs and unwind by the beach or pool. At 1830hrs, have dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4; Transfer to South Coast (Diani Beach)

0700hrs, have breakfast and check out of the hotel. Depart to Diani afterwards at 0830hrs on the South Coast. At 1000hrs, arrive in Diani and check into your resort in Diani, enjoy a refreshing drink on arrival. Later on, at 1230hrs, have lunch at your hotel’s beachside restaurant, enjoying the view of the white sandy beaches. In the afternoon, at 1400hrs, spend the afternoon relaxing on Diani Beach, one of the Kenya’s most beautiful beaches. You can opt for activities like jet skiing, kite surfing, stand up paddleboarding, or simply swim in the turquoise water. At 1830hrs, enjoy a unique dining experience inside a natural cave at Ali Barbour’s Cave Restaurant. At 2030hrs, return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 5; Explore Diani and Surroundings

0700hrs, have breakfast at the hotel. At 0800hrs, take a morning trip to Shimba Hills National Reserve, about an hour from Diani. The park is home to elephants, rare sable antelopes, and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy a guided nature walk to Sheldrick Falls. After your safari, have lunch at Green Hills Restaurant, located near the park. Enjoy local cuisine while taking in the view of the surrounding hills. At 1400hrs, visit Colobus Conservation Center and learn about the conservation efforts to protect the endangered Colobus monkeys at the Colobus Conservation. At 1600hrs, return to the hotel for a relaxing spa treatment or a lazy afternoon on the beach. At 1830hrs, end your day with a casual dinner at Nomad Beach Bar, where you can enjoy delicious seafood, pizza, or grilled meats right by the beach. At 2030hrs, return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 6; Departure from Mombasa

0600hrs, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and have morning at leisure. At 1100hrs, check out of the hotel and  proceed to SGR station in Mombasa.At  1300hrs, arrive at the Mombasa terminus and check in  for several security checks.At 1400hrs, have lunch at a cafe inside the SGR station and board train 10 minutes for departure time. At 1500hrs, the train departs for Nairobi. At 2000hrs, arrive in Nairobi and drop off at your residence.
