Summary Itinerary
This 5 day itinerary takes you on an adventurous journey through Kenya’s stunning landscapes, beginning with the iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro from Amboseli National Park, moving to the tranquil Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, and ending on the beautiful beaches of Mombasa. This trip offers a mix of wildlife safaris, cultural experiences, and relaxation.
DAY 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National
0600hrs, start your journey from Nairobi early to maximize time in Amboseli. The drive is approximately 4 to 5 hrs. Along the way, enjoy scenic landscapes of the Kenyan countryside. At about 1100hrs, arrive at Amboseli National Park and check into your lodge or camp. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. At about 1300hrs, relax after the drive and enjoy a hearty lunch. At 1500hrs, set out for an afternoon game drive to see elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of birds. With Mount Kilimanjaro in the backdrop. At 1830hrs, return back to your lodge or camp.
DAY 2; Morning Safari and Transfer To Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
0600hrs, wake up early for a sunrise game drive, one of the best times to spot wildlife as animals are most active during the cooler hours of the day. At 0830hrs, return to the lodge for breakfast and then check out. Afterwards, enjoy a scenic drive towards Taita Hills, passing through small villages and expansive savannah landscapes. At 1300hrs, arrive at Taita Hills Salt Lick Lodge and check into your lodge. Have lunch at the lodge while watching elephants, buffalo, and other animals at the waterhole. At 1500hrs, embark on an afternoon game drive through the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. At 1700hrs, return to the lodge for a relaxing evening. At 1830hrs, enjoy dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3; Exploration of Taita Hills and Transfer to Mombasa
0700hrs, enjoy a final morning game drive in Taita Hills to spot more wildlife and explore the sanctuary’s diverse landscapes. At 0900hrs, return to the lodge for breakfast and then check out. Afterwards, drive to Mombasa, which takes approximately 3 hours away. At about 1330hrs, arrive in Mombasa and check in at Sarova Whitesands Beach Hotel. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at the hotel with views of the Indian Ocean. At 1500hrs, have an afternoon at leisure and enjoy the hotel’s amenities. At 1900hrs, head to the iconic Tamarind Mombasa for dinner. 2100hrs, return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 4; Exploration of Mombasa’s Historic Sites and Culture
0730hrs, begin the day with a hearty breakfast at your beach hotel. At 0900hrs, set out to visit and explore Fort Jesus, a 16th century Portuguese fort and UNESCO World heritage site that tells a story of Mombasa’s rich history. Then take a guided walking tour of Mombasa Old Town, known for its Swahili architecture, narrow streets, and bustling spice markets. At 1130hrs, visit the famous Mombasa Tusks on Moi Avenue, a symbol of the city’s heritage. Then, stop by Mackinnon Market to experience the vibrant atmosphere and shop for local handicrafts and spices. At 1300hrs, enjoy lunch at Forodhani Restaurant in Old Town. At 1500hrs, return back to the hotel for an afternoon of relaxation or water sports like snorkeling, wind surfing or jet skiing. At 1900hrs, enjoy dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5; Departure
0730hrs, start your day with breakfast at the resort, enjoying the morning breeze from the ocean followed by morning at leisure. At 1100hrs, check out from the resort and begin your journey to Nairobi by road.
