Summary Itinerary
This 4 day itinerary provides a perfect balance between the vast wilderness of Tsavo National Park and the breathtaking views of Amboseli National Park with Mount Kilimanjaro as its backdrop. You’ll experience unforgettable wildlife encounters, picturesque landscapes, and the natural beauty of Kenya’s famous safari destinations.
Day 1; Departure from Nairobi
0600hrs, begin your adventure with an early departure from Nairobi. Head southeast towards Tsavo National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and oldest parks, divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. The drive takes about 4 to 5 hours, depending on the traffic and the entry gate chosen. At 1030hrs, arrive in Tsavo East National Park, check in at your lodge or tented camp and enjoy a welcome drink. At about 1130hrs, after freshening up, embark on a mid morning game drive. Return to your lodge after the game drive at 1300hrs, for a well deserved lunch. In the late afternoon, at 1500hrs, head out for another game drive. The wildlife is often more active during this time. After the game drive, return to your lodge just in time to enjoy the stunning sunset over the savannah. At 1830hrs, enjoy dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2; Transfer to Amboseli National Park
0600hrs, rise up early for a sunrise game drive. This is the best time to spot predators returning from their nightly hunts. 0830hrs, return back to the lodge for a hearty breakfast before checking out. Later on, at 1000hrs, depart Tsavo and head towards Amboseli, which is about a 3 hour drive away. At 1330hrs, arrive at Amboseli National Park and check into your lodge or tented camp. After settling in, enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge. Head out for an afternoon game drive at 1530hrs. You’ll likely encounter large herds of elephants roaming freely across the plains. At 1830hrs, stop at Observation Hill for a scenic sundowner. Return back to the lodge at 1930hrs, for dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3; Full Day in Amboseli National Park
0600hrs, wake up early for a morning game drive. The golden morning light combined with clear skies often offers the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro. At 0900hrs, after the game drive, return to the lodge for a full breakfast. After breakfast, depart to visit a Maasai village and learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Maasai people. At 1300hrs, head out for a picnic lunch within the park. At 1530hrs, embark on an afternoon game drive to explore a different part of Amboseli. Visit the Enkongo Narok Swamp, a favorite spot for elephants and other wildlife. At 1830hrs, after the game drive, enjoy a sundowner at your lodge’s terrace or observation deck. At 1930hrs, enjoy dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4; Final Game Drive and Departure
0600hrs, start your day with a final early morning game drive. Enjoy the peaceful morning and the sight of elephants silhouetted against Mount Kilimanjaro. Return back to the lodge for breakfast at 0830hrs, and afterwards pack your bags and check out of the lodge. At 0930hrs, depart Amboseli and begin your journey back to Nairobi, which takes about 4 to 5 hours. Along the way, enjoy the scenic drive. At 1330hrs, arrive back to Nairobi, and drop off at the hotel or residences. Marking the end of your incredible safari adventure.
